Broadway is expedcted to be closed at New York Street while the road is excavated to install drainage pipe, the city said. Through traffic on Broadway will be diverted around the site via Pierce Street, Central Avenue and Ham Street.

The city said the closed section on Broadway is where traffic is already restricted to a single lane alternated by a temporary traffic signal.

Additional closures are planned for the same section Thursday and Friday, the city said, while an excavator blocks the road to perform additional work. These closures will occur between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. and are expected to be 1-2 hours in length. The city added all closures are weather permitting.

While Broadway closures are in place, a traffic-control flagger will be assigned to the intersection of Central Avenue and Pierce Streets to ensure that through trucks do not travel on Pierce Street, police said, adding that a police officer will be assigned to the intersection of Ham Street and Central Avenue to help detoured traffic from Ham Street make left turns onto Central Avenue.

Local businesses will remain accessible at all times during the traffic closure.
