Manchester, New Hampshire, Man Stabbed in York Beach Parking Lot
A 74-year-old Manchester man is recovering after receiving 30 stitches from being being stabbed at a York Beach parking lot Thursday afternoon
York Police said a man was stabbed in the Short Sands parking lot around 2:20 p.m. in an "unprovoked attack." The suspect, Daniel Orban of Windham, Maine, was found sitting in his vehicle a short distance away on Shore Road, and was taken into custody.
Orban was charged with aggravated assault, and is being held at the York County Jail.
Eric Rhodes told WGME TV he and his father, Stanley Rhodes, were packing up their car to leave when Orban pulled into a nearby parking space. Orban got out of his car, walked up to Stanley, stabbed him in the stomach, and walked away, Eric Rhodes said.
"No reason, came flying out of his car, stabbed my dad twice, and then sat in his car for 5-6 minutes then drove off," Eric Rhodes wrote on his Facebook page.
Eric Rhodes wrote that he watched Orban's arraignment via Zoom. Orban was"ranting racial slurs" during the proceeding, and told he judge he carries a knife with him to eat his food.
Stanley Rhodes was taken to Portsmouth Regional Hospital, where he received the stitches in his underarm and was released Friday night, Eric Rhodes told WGME.
