Man’s Body Found in Merrimack River in Newburyport, MA

The body of a 71-year-old man was found in the Merrimack River in Newburyport on Monday morning.

Newburyport Police said the man's body was found near the Route 95 Whittier Bridge after being spotted by a passerby. The U.S. Coast Guard said they responded to nearby Deer Island for the discover of a body.

The man's identity was not disclosed by police, pending notification of family.
