NH Gov. Chris Sununu Released from Hospital

New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu was released from Portsmouth Regional Hospital after being treated for a bleeding ulcer.

After getting himself checked out Friday morning after flu-like symptoms lingered since Wednesday Sununu's office said doctors diagnosed a bleeding ulcer as the cause. He had a blood transfusion and was feeling better, according to Chief of Staff Jayne Millerick.

“New Hampshire is blessed with amazing health care staff and generous blood donors," Sununu said in a statement. "Valerie and I can’t thank them enough and are grateful for everyone’s prayers and positive outreach."

Millerick said the governor will continue his recovery at home.

A photo tweeted by WMUR Friday afternoon showed Sununu in a stretcher as he entered the hospital.

Sununu took three COVID-19 tests on Wednesday after waking up with flu like symptoms. Two rapid antigen tests and a PCR test all came back negative.
