You know summer is right around the corner when this famous seafood restaurant and marina open for the season in South Harpswell, Maine.
Even the one and only Oprah Winfrey raved about this gem, as she held her book club meeting inside and tasted her first lobster roll ever. If it's good enough for Oprah, then I am putting this place on my bucket list.
If you're going to try a lobster roll, you have to be on the coast of Maine, and that's what she did at the Dolphin Marina & Restaurant on Casco Bay. This Facebook video says it all, but it does look cold. Oprah, come back in the summer.
The Dolphin Restaurant has now opened its doors for 56 seasons, and remains a popular spot for boaters, tourists, and local with its casual atmosphere and spectacular bay views. You could sit here all day and watch the movements of the water, boats, and people.
Lobster rolls are only a fraction of the seafood served at the Dolphin. Check out this menu with seafood risotto, parmesan crusted haddock, lobster stew, scallop fritters, fried clams, and much more. You have to love seafood if you're going to the Dolphin Restaurant, although there are some choices for non-seafood guests.
The views are breathtaking from the restaurant and marina, and sporadically you'll see a rainbow across the sky, a nod to the beauty of the location and the people of Maine.
Spellbinding, gorgeous, stunning, incredible, and intoxicating are all adjectives you could use to describe the view.
If Dolphin Marina & Restaurant is good enough for Oprah, then it's a fine place for me.
