CPR administered at a pool party to a 15-year-old teen lying facedown in an Amesbury swimming pool helped save the boy's life Tuesday afternoon.

Amesbury firefighters responded to a call from 5 Christopher Way around 3:30 p.m. for a report of an unconscious teen, according to Fire Chief Kenneth E. Berkenbush.

The teen had been swimming with friends when he was suddenly lying face down in the water.

By the time help arrived he was conscious and alert after an individual at the pool administered CPR, Berkenbush said.

The teenager was transported to a hospital for evaluation.
