A member of the University of New Hampshire men's basketball team was recognized by the America East conference on Monday.

Blondeau Tchoukuiengo, a redshirt freshman guard, was named the America East rookie of the week for his performance in a win over Keene State on Wednesday.

Tchoukuiengo, who is from Montreal, equaled a game-high 18 points in the Wildcats' 93-54 win over the Owls, which was UNH's season-opener. Additionally, Tchoukuiengo logged a team-high 34 minutes in the win.

UNH said Monday's announcement comes on the one-year anniversary of the fifth and final game of Tchoukuiengo's injury-shortened true-freshman season.
