The University of New Hampshire men's hockey team remains in a holding pattern after a player tested positive for COVID-19 on November 20, according to a university spokesperson.

The Wildcats have not practiced this week, the spokesperson said, and will not play this weekend's series against the University of Massachusetts. It will be the second series postponed due to the positive infection, which was revealed just before UNH was set to open its season against Boston College on November 20.

The season-opener was postponed roughly 4 1/2 hours prior to puck drop due to an inconclusive COVID-19 test, the spokesperson said at the time. That test was confirmed to be a positive infection on November 21. According to the spokesperson, COVID-19 protocols were being followed in wake of the positive test.

It remains to be seen when the Wildcats will get to open their season, but the spokesperson said their series against the University of Maine is still scheduled to begin December 11.

At the time of publishing, Hockey East had not announced any rescheduling dates for what will be the four games skipped on the Wildcats' schedule. It is unclear whether there have been more positive infections beyond the player who tested positive on November 20.

UNH typically holds press conferences for the men's hockey team on Wednesdays, but no press conference was held last week and no conference this week had been scheduled as of Tuesday.
