Just look at those eyes. I mean, WOW! Mesmerizing for sure. And thank goodness this dazzling owl is okay. We know that wildlife prefers to stay away from us humans, so I can only imagine the anxiety this adorable own must have felt. It's sad to see the owl so vulnerable, stuck in that net with its talons all twisted.
This owl rescue happened in Southborough, Massachusetts, which is about halfway between Boston and Worcester.
Thank you so much to Southborough Police Officers Keith Nichols and Jake Woodford, who most definitely scored BIG in our hearts. Someone called 911, according to the police department, after seeing this beautiful owl entangled in the netting of this soccer field goal at Trottier Middle School.
These photos say it all, don't they? You can see by the photo below that the owl was able to take off in flight after both officers managed to safely untangle the poor thing.
The eyes of this owl are just stunningly hypnotic, aren't they? I mean, they stare right into your soul. Here's a fun fact about owls' eyes. According to the Audubon, the eyes of an owl can't move at all. Isn't that wild? They're not true “eyeballs", but are rather tube-shaped and completely immobile. This provides binocular vision so they can fully focus on their prey, and have greater depth perception.
