92-Year-Old Exeter, NH, Man Drowns in Squam Lake

A 92-year-old man from Exeter drowned in Squam Lake Wednesday afternoon.

New Hampshire State Police said were called to the lake in Sandwich north of Lake Winnipesaukee around 4 p.m.for a possible drowning. William Duryea was pulled from the water at his camp by the State Police Marine Unit, assisted by the Sandwich Police Department, Sandwich Fire Department, and Center Harbor Fire Department.

First responders unsuccessfully performed CPR, and Duryea was pronounced dead at the scene.

State Police asked any witnesses to call them at 603-227-2117.
