Some call it the ultimate comfort food. It's the ol' reliable. A dish that's hard to screw up too bad but also one that, when done nearly to perfection, takes things to a completely new level.

Yes, we're talking about macaroni and cheese. A sublime combination that's always there when you need it.

As it turns out, according to the Seacoast Eats Facebook page, there are several Seacoast restaurants that allegedly make a mean mac and cheese. Here are just a few of their suggestions to indulge yourself in some pasta and dairy:

1. MoJo's BBQ Tavern, Portsmouth

MoJo's also made our list of best BBQ eateries on the Seacoast, but the folks at Seacoast Eats also rave out their mac and cheese. A look at the menu reveals an item called "Southern Porked Mac," which is cavatappi pasta blended with their slow smoked BBQ pulled pork and creamy cheese sauce, topped with melted cheddar jack cheese. It'll run you $12.

2. Good Eats, Hampton

This one is a more traditional take on the dish. Good Eats says their mac and cheese is "Vermont cheddar and American cheese blended with cream and cavatappi pasta topped with buttery Ritz crumbs." It is also $12, the same as MoJo's. One user also claimed you can order a family-size version of the dish. Boy, that's a game-changer.

3. Smuttlabs Brewery and Kitchen, Dover

Who said beer doesn't go with mac and cheese? Certainly not me. Smuttlabs calls their dish a "Truffalo" mac and cheese. It comes with garlic bread and holds a price point of $10, although you can add fried chicken for $4 or pulled pork for $5.

4. Sweet Chix Kitchen, Greenland

They're known for their chicken but those who know say Sweet Chix's mac and cheese is woefully underrated. One user on the page said it's only a winter seasonal side and is available in quart sizes. But if you call up asking for a tray, they might be able to make it happen for you.

5. Throwback Brewery, North Hampton

Another brewery, but multiple folks on the Seacoast Eats page said this was a spot for some good mac. Throwback said it uses cavatappi pasta with a house-made cheese sauce and breadcrumbs. You can also add in some yummy items if you so choose. I'm taking the chorizo.
