A series of systems traveling along a stalled cold front will bring a threat for showers and thunderstorms Friday and Sunday, with locally heavy rainfall and gusty winds.
Highways are down to bare pavement as the low pressure area responsible for the heavy wet snow and wind gusts to roughly 40 mph moves away from New England Wednesday.
The nor'easter began as rain Monday night but will transition over to heavy snow Tuesday morning accumulating at the rate of 1-3 inches per hour for a time which will create hazardous driving conditons.
Gusty northeast winds of up to 50 mph will drive the wet snow to stick to one side of trees and cause some branches or weaker/dead pine trees to fall, resulting in scattered power outages.
