There is no denying that children rely on their parents.

Parents lead by example, drive their children to practices, and teach them valuable lessons daily.

It is not as frequent, but certainly does happen, that parents rely on their children. After all, they are just kids.

For one family in Maine, that was not the case. Without intending to, the family relied on their six-year-old daughter to save her father's life.

Macie Semrau rarely misses kindergarten; however, the six-year-old refused to get dressed and go on April 12, 2022, so her mother kept her home for the day, according to a Seacoast Online article.

Macie's father, 37-year-old Kyle Semrau, had been dealing with medical issues involving his sinuses that caused him to collapse and slip in and out of consciousness, according to Seacoast Online.

Caleb, Macie's four-year-old brother, was crying next to his father trying his best to comfort him while he was unconscious. When Kyle regained consciousness, Macie, who had already grabbed her father's phone, had him recite his password to unlock the device, according to Seacoast Online.

Macie, only six, googled the town's police department and called. Her ability to stay calm and make the appropriate decisions to save her father's life is astonishing. Within two minutes, help was on site.

Most of the incident is blurry for Macie's father, Kyle. He was sent to Wentworth-Douglass Hospital, where he remained for three days and had four liters of oxygen, according to Seacoast Online.

"The incident also occurred on the one-year anniversary of the death of (Kyle) Semrau’s wife’s grandmother, causing the family to pause and consider whether divine intervention played a hand in the day’s unfolding," according to Seacoast Online.

After all, Macie was supposed to be at school. She refused. Maybe it was fate.
