After learning of the dispute, police said, an investigation revealed evidence that supported probable cause that the woman had been the victim of alleged domestic simple assault on Friday.

Police at this time also learned that Meola allegedly made threatening remarks to the woman that he would "use a firearm against the victim," the press release said.

Meola was arrested at his residence on Sunday, police said, and is being held on preventative detention status. Meola was scheduled to have an arraignment on Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. at the Hampton District Court.
