The Barrington Blaze 12u softball team will be representing New England in the Babe Ruth Softball World Series beginning on July 28 if they can raise the money in time to get to Florida.

On Saturday, the team captured the Babe Ruth Softball New England Regional Championship title and earned the right to play in the tournament which takes place in Treasure Coast, Fla.

They need to raise $36,000 to go.

Money is needed for airfare, hotels, team meals, spectator gate fees and USA/Salute to Service Jerseys.

A verified GoFundMe.com account has been created with all of the tax-deductible donations going to the Barrington Youth Association.

As of Tuesday at noon, about $20,000 had been raised.

The Babe Ruth 12U Softball World Series runs from July 18 to 27.
