How To Participate in Portsmouth Holiday Lights Contest
The City of Portsmouth is bringing back its holiday lights contest. Here's how residents can participate.
Mayor Rick Becksted announced the return of the contest in a City Council meeting on November 16, and submissions are now open.
Residents desiring to participate can fill out the online form here. Those who prefer filling out a physical submission can print a form here. The deadline for submissions is December 10.
Judging, however, will be strict. All contest entries will be judged by school-aged children, who will be driven around various neighborhoods to make their choices. Judging will take place from December 12-20. There will be two categories: Best Classic Display, and Most Creative Display.
Becksted will announce the winners on December 21, and the following prizes are up for grabs:
Best Classic/Traditional Display – $500 Ricci Lumber Gift Certificate
Most Creative Display – $500 Home Depot Gift Certificate
Best Overall Display – $500 Lowe’s Gift Certificate
Honorable Mentions – $25 Gift Certificates
