Things went from bad to worse in the second half of the New England Patriots game yesterday.
Bill Belichick's squad fell to 1-2 after a 37-26 loss to their hated rivals, the Baltimore Ravens. However, it wasn't just about the loss of the game for the Patriots. It was also the loss of starting quarterback Mac Jones.
On the final offensive play of the game, Jones came off the field with an apparent ankle injury. The extent of the injury is still undetermined as of the publishing of this article.
Jones had an up and down game before the injury, aiding the Patriots on numerous scoring drives. However, the second-year signal caller did finish with two interceptions.
On a bright note, it was the best game so far as a Patriot for new recruit DeVante Parker. The lengthy wide receiver finished with 5 receptions for 156 yards. Rhamondre Stevenson and Damien Harris also led a balanced rushing attack that averaged over 5 yards a carry.
But, it was truly a game for Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens. The former NFL MVP threw 4 touchdowns and rushed for another. Jackson and the Ravens offense absolutely dominated the Patriots defense, making it look lost over and over again.
The Patriots have little time to recover, as the team will travel to Green Bay this Sunday to face Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers. Expect to see veteran Brian Hoyer under center for the Patriots, with Jones likely on the mend.
A side note from the game...
Congrats to legendary former Patriot Vince Wilfork on his induction to the New England Patriots Hall of Fame. The outstanding defensive tackle was celebrated at halftime of Sunday's game.
