Maine Lobster Festival

The Maine Lobster Festival is a massive gathering of locals and tourists alike in Rockland, Maine. It’s a 5-day long event celebrating one of Maine’s biggest industries and most beloved dish. Ask any Mainer and we’ll tell you nothing beats a lobster, with corn on the cob, steamers, coleslaw, and a side of kettle chips

Sadly the festival has been on a hiatus thanks of course to the global pandemic, but as of now, the 75th Maine Lobster Festival is scheduled to happen for summer 2022 August 3rd through the 7th.

The festival has a handful of events that it’s known for like the parade, the Sea Goddess pageant, the road race, live entertainment, fireworks lots of lobster, and so much more.

Carnival

There was always a carnival associated with the Lobster Festival for kids and families to enjoy with rides and games like one would find at the fair. This year, however, organizers said “No, thank you.”

According to the Courier-Gazette, while the carnival has been eliminated, it is being replaced with other “greener” family fun activities. These activities include industrial playsets, rock climbing, a petting zoo, an arcade, and more. So while the carnival will be gone, the absence of family fun will certainly not be felt by event-goers.

Even better, the elimination of the carnival allowed for organizers to make the festival admission free!
