Massachusetts Man Retires, Then Wins Lottery Within Hours

There are a few feelings in life that we all dream of: quitting/retiring and winning the lottery.

I guarantee you have thought of and tried to manifest both of these things into existence, but luck has not been on your side.

Well, one man in Massachusetts had the opportunity to have both things happen within hours of each other.

Paul Bashaw had been working as a truck driver for the same employer for nearly two decades. On July 17, Bashaw told his boss that it was time for him to retire. He gave the company his two-week notice.

Less than 72 hours later, Bashaw had won the Massachusetts lottery, according to a CBS News article. He hit a total of one million dollars on a scratch ticket.

"I told my wife there were three things in life I never thought I'd see happen: the Patriots winning the Super Bowl, getting a hole in one – that happened five years ago – and hitting the Lottery, and now I've hit all three," Bashaw said in a statement through the Lottery and CBS.

Can you imagine that?

You finally get the opportunity to retire, and are then sent into the new chapter of your life a millionaire!

What a way to start retirement.

Between retirement and the new million, Bashaw has to be planning some kind of vacation to celebrate.

The winning ticket was purchased at J&J Variety on West Boylston Steet in West Boylston. There are still six $1 million prizes remaining in the game, and two $5 million winners.
