A Portsmouth man was arrested for allegedly discharging a gun inside his apartment, resulting in a bullet traveling through an apartment wall and creating a hole to an abutting apartment, police said in a release Monday.

Police said on Wednesday they had responded to 90 Brewery Lane in Portsmouth to investigate a bullet hole in an apartment on the fourth floor and ultimately determined that a .45 caliber round came through the wall of an abutting apartment. Police then executed a search warrant on the apartment in question.

No injuries were reported.

Christopher Bell, 32, of Portsmouth was arrested by police and charged with reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon as well as two counts of criminal mischief. Bell will be prosecuted by the Rockingham County Attorney's Office, police said.
