Star Island is opening up again. That's big news considering that Appledore Island cancelled their walking tours for 2021.

As reported by WMUR, Star Island at the Isles of Shoals is open to the public once again after being closed for a year. If you live here, you may have seen the island from the shore, but it's nothing like seeing it for yourself.

You have to take a boat from Portsmouth to the Island, which doesn't take long at all.  The island has all kinds of trails for you to hike and the beautiful Oceanic Hotel.  Some restrictions, however, if you plan on staying overnight, you will need to provide a negative PCR test before you arrive.  This place is worth it.

Star is one of several islands that comprise the Isles of Shoals.  It is the second largest of them all, next to Appledore and the biggest one on the NH Side.

Maine and NH share the islands, as you can see on this map:

One more thing if you are trying to make reservations in the hotel only, you can't this year.  They are only allowing the programs this year, according to an email from starisland.org.
