Funeral arrangements have been scheduled for Rye firefighter Lt. Charles Gallant.

Gallant died Friday at the age of 56 after working an overtime shift. A hearse carried his body from Concord to Rye Sunday was honored with firefighters standing on overpasses holding flags, according to Patch coverage of the procession.

Rye firefighters and residents stood at attention with hands over their hearts as the procession passed the fire station.

A walk through for fire service and other public safety personnel will be held Thursday from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, located at 811 Lafayette Road in Hampton. Public visiting hours will follow from 3 p.m. - 6 p.m.

A funeral service will be held at the Bethany Church, 500 Breakfast Hill Road in Greenland at 11 a.m. The burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, Gallant's family asks that memorial donations be made to the Rye Toy Bank, a charity he organized and was very involved with every holiday season. Donations can be sent to PO Box 704, Rye, NH 03870.
