An observant snow plow operator helped police identify a suspect in a smash-and-grab robbery at Target in Somersworth on Monday afternoon.

Somersworth Police said the operator was working in the parking lot when they saw a man run out the back of the store around 2:40 p.m. Monday, and chased after him. The man pulled a knife on the operator before running into the woods.

Employees told police that the man earlier used a hammer to smash a glass display case and steal a game console before heading for the rear exit, according to police. He is described as a white male wearing blue jeans and a gray hooded sweatshirt with blue sleeves. He was also wearing a gray baseball cap and surgical mask.

Police asked anyone with information to call 603-692-3131 or online at somersworth.com/police/webforms/submit-tip.
