Shepherds Beyond Borders posted yesterday on Facebook that this sweet boy was left behind in Maine after his family moved away. How anyone can do that to their pet is beyond me.

The post has since been edited, because so many people were up in arms that the family could abandon their animal like that. Apparently, the family has received some severe threats, and Shepherds Beyond Borders has asked that no more messages be sent to the family as they move forward with finding the best home for this sweet boy.

Here's what you need to know about Ruger (from his current foster mom):

He's a six-year-old German Shepherd that gets along well with other male dogs ( we’ve only had him around other male dogs, not females). He does well with children, as he lived with a four-year-old since she was born. He does very well on leash, loves to walk, go for car rides, and play outside. He’s very friendly and LOVES to cuddle. He will do tricks for treats and protects the family with his deep bark when someone’s at the door. He does not interact well with cats at all. He seems healthy and has good habits and behaviors around people.

If Ruger sounds like a good fit for you and your family and you're able to provide him with tons of love and a stable, fur-ever home, fill out an application on the Shepherds Beyond Borders website!
