5.4 acres listed for two million dollars in the quaint Merrimac, Massachusetts.
Why so much? Well, it is prime real estate for a few reasons.
One, it would easily be a money-making apartment/condo opportunity (not that the people of Merrimac want more apartments). The people have made that pretty clear.
Two, it would thrive as a restaurant or some other small business.
Why would a restaurant thrive there? Well, history repeats itself...
The FAMOUS, and I mean famous, Skip's used to be located on the same lot. After 75 years of serving the North Shore, they finally closed down in August of 2022.
Opening in 1947, Skip's was a staple on the Seacoast, Route 110, and the entire state of Massachusetts. This seasonal spot is best known for their Suzie Q fries that would have a line formed up each opening day. If you have had the curly fries, you know...
For me, it was all about the frappes.
From the frappes and fries to the juicy burgers with enough sesame seeds to feed a small village, Skip's burgers and fries are part of the Seacoast elite.
Skip's, serving burgers, fries, frappes, and more to beachgoers stopping on Route 110, will be missed dearly; however, their contribution to the community will be missed the most.
Skip's has been hosting "cruise nights" for 25 years, known by many as the car show. This show brought hundreds, if not thousands, of people from Merrimac and surrounding towns to look at old school cars over a burger and frappe.
Nothing could replace Skip's...but what will?
