One person was killed when a tractor-trailer heading south on the Spaulding Turnpike in Dover crossed over into the northbound lanes and collided with their Acura Monday afternoon.

New Hampshire State Police said the truck driven by Pedro Ivan Ortiz Andino, 29, of Fitchburg, Massachusetts, went over the guardrail near Exit 6 and hit the 2022 Acura and a 2016 Honda Accord around 2:40 p.m. A third vehicle went into the guardrail to avoid the truck.

Helicopter footage showed the truck's cab with a crumpled hood and caved-in tires.

The identities of the other drivers were not disclosed. The reason for the truck to cross over into the northbound lanes remains under investigation.

The northbound lanes remained closed as of 9:15 p.m. for continued cleanup and investigation. The left lane was blocked southbound. The closure caused miles long backups in both directions. Routes 108 and 236 also picked up extra traffic from drivers trying to avoid the closure.

State Police asked any witnesses to the crash to call 603-223-3622.
