Body Found in Northwood

A person who was walking their dog made a gruesome discovery in Northwood.

Police Chief Glen Drolet announced on Friday afternoon that a man in his 40s was found laying in a small stream just off a trail in a wooded area near Old Pittsfield Road.

The body was reported to police at about 4 p.m. on Wednesday and an autopsy was conducted on Thursday.

Drolet said his police department is working with the New Hampshire State Police Major Crime Unit and the New Hampshire Attorney General's Office.

The manner and cause of death are being investigated.

The identity of the man is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
