Broadway in Dover is closed to traffic on Thursday and Friday as part of the ongoing work on the Washington and Main Street Improvements Project.

As work continues to replace 3,000 feet of critical water main infrastructure no traffic will be allowed from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days. The work on Thursday will be pipework while Friday will include paving.

Westbound:

    • Broadway will be closed at Pierce Street, with access to local and outbound traffic only.
    • Broadway at St. John Street will be closed to inbound traffic, with outbound traffic detoured to Pierce Street or Portland Avenue.

Inbound:

    • Inbound traffic to Broadway from Chapel Street and Portland Avenue will be detoured to Portland Avenue, with outbound traffic open.

There will be no access to Broadway at the intersection of Central Avenue and Broadway.

Traffic will continue to be reduced to a single lane at the worksite on Central Avenue and Main Street, as it has been this week.

Chapel Street, which was scheduled to be closed on Thursday and Friday for unrelated work, will now be open both days.

The project, which began on March 22, is on target to be nearly complete on August 19 and finished on September 18.
