First American Serial Killer has Roots In New Hampshire
H.H. Holmes was probably the first documented serial killer in American History. I first saw the documentary “H.H. Holmes: America’s First Serial Killer” on Netflix and was amazed that he is from New Hampshire.
A small plain house in Gilmanton that is still there is where he was born. He spent his youth here in New Hampshire.
How Many People Did H.H. Holmes Actually Kill?
No one knows how many victims fell prey to the killer but visitors to his infamous Murder Castle in Chicago checked-in and never left.
Some say he killed 9 people but other suspects his body count could be much higher, even into the triple digits.
My wife loved the Book “Devil in the White City,” by Erik Larson, and I just found out that they are making a movie about it. Holmes confessed to more than 27 murders when he was caught.
H.H. Holmes Story coming to Hulu
According screenrant.com, “The Devil in the White City” adaptation may be coming to Hulu. Leonardo DiCaprio brought the rights to the story and was slated to be playing the starring role of the killer, H.H. Holmes back in 2019, but the pandemic hit, and it threw movie studios into chaos.
Rumors that it will be made into a limited series on Hulu have me interested. It will tell the true story of the con man that moved to Chicago and went on a killing spree that is horrifying. I love serial killer stories.
Now I need to take a trip over to Gilmanton and check out his house. I bet it is haunted.
