Dog Rescued From Kingston, NH, Well During Snowstorm

Several town departments worked together in the snow to rescue a dog who fell into a well on Sunday.

Arlo fell into a 25-foot-deep well in Kingston and was in two feet of water with temperatures around freezing, according to Kingston Fire Chief Graham Pellerin. Members of Kingston Police, Kingston Fire, Kingston Public Works, and Plaistow Fire Department performed a below-grade rescue to get Arlo to safety.

The Plaistow Fire Department-Unofficial Facebook page said it took several attempts to get Arlo out using a tripod to lower a Kingston firefighter into the well.

Arlo is a German Shepherd who fell into the well after a snowplow dislodged the cap to a well, according to their post.

Staff from the Mitchell Animal Hospital were on-hand to examine Arlo once he was brought to the surface, according to Pellerin.

"To say I am proud of my Firefighters, our mutual aid system and the ability to successfully work with every Kingston department for the common good is amazing," Pellerin said in a statement.

Arlo was reunited with his owners after the rescue.
