A woman struck as she crossed a Dover street Sunday morning has died from her injuries.

Edith Gordon, 60, of Dover was crossing Chestnut Street in a marked crosswalk around 10:25 a.m. when she was hit by a Toyota sedan turning from Orchard Street driven by a 68-year-old Dover woman, according to Dover police.

Dover police headquarters is located at the intersection.

A number of people rushed to provide medical care for Gordon after the crash. They also offered comfort for the driver of the Toyota, Teresa Taylor, 68, of Dover, who stopped and was distraught by the crash.

Gordon was taken to Wentworth-Douglass Hospital with serious injuries and then to Portsmouth Regional Hospital. She died Monday at Portsmouth Regional.

Speed and impairment do not appear to be factors in the crash, which remains under investigation, Dover police said. Taylor is expected to be cited for a violation of the state's motor vehicle code.

Police asked anyone with information about the crash to call them at 603-742-4646.
