A couple was injured when they were both accidentally hit by a single bullet at their home in Epping on Sunday afternoon, according to police.

Epping police said Christopher Martel, 34, was cleaning a firearm inside his Mast Road home around 4:20 p.m. when it discharged a round that struck him and his wife, Crystal Martel, 42, resulting in serious but non-life threatening injuries. Both were taken to Portsmouth Regional Hospital for treatment.  There is no danger to the public and no charges have been filed.

Epping police chief Michael Wallace told the Union Leader that both were struck in the thigh.
