A fatal crash between a motorcycle and tractor trailer closed a section of Route 33 in Portsmouth on Tuesday afternoon, according to Portsmouth police.

The crash around 2:15 p.m. at Griffin Road closed Route 33 between Borthwick Avenue and Islington Street for most of the afternoon. The driver of the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police, while the tractor trailer driver was not hurt and cooperated with police.

The identities of the drivers and the circumstances of the crash were not disclosed by police.

The road was reopened around 5:30 p.m.

Police asked any witnesses to the crash to call them at 603-610-7629.
