Three people were injured during a fight late Saturday afternoon in Portsmouth.

Portsmouth Police found three people sitting on the railroad tracks near Cabot Street at McDonough Street, two of whom were injured. The group told officers about another individual in a nearby wooded area who also appeared to have been stabbed.

The male was taken to Portsmouth Regional Hospital with injuries considered to be life-threatening. He was in stable condition Monday morning, according to police.

Officers established a perimeter around the immediate area and were able to recover several pieces of evidence related to the fight, but did not make any arrests. Police did not disclose the identities of anyone involved in the incident, nor the circumstances leading to the fight.

All of the individuals involved in the fight have been identified and are cooperating with the investigation.  Those involved in the fight know each other, according to police.

An investigation is ongoing by Portsmouth Police with the Rockingham County Attorney's Office.
