A fire Friday afternoon fanned by an ocean breeze heavily damaged a York Beach house that dates back to the late 1800's.

Flames broke out on the ocean side of the Victorian-style house on Freeman Street near Wellington Avenue around 2 p.m., York Beach Assistant Fire Chief Paul Banville told NewsCenter Maine.

Pictures of the house during the fire show the roof heavily damaged, with at least one chimney exposed.

Fire crews stayed at the house during the overnight hours to wet down hot spots.

No one was injured in the blaze, according to Banville, and no one was home at the time of the fire.
