A Madbury man is being held behind bars after a fight that led to a stabbing late Tuesday afternoon.

New Hampshire State Police said they responded to a fight at a home on Bunker Lane in Madbury around 5:50 p.m., and found that one of the individuals involved had been stabbed multiple times. They were taken to Wentworth-Douglass Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Paul Howard, 36, was also taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries, according to State Police. He was charged a short time later with four counts of first degree assault and taken to the Strafford County House of Corrections. An arraignment hearing is scheduled for Wednesday.

The circumstances of the altercation and the identity of the other individual were not disclosed.
