Man Injured Trying to Save Dog from Milton House Fire
A Milton man was injured Saturday after making several attempts to rescue a dog from a house fire on Saturday afternoon.
The fire in the house on Mason Road spread into the adjacent wood and another house, according to Milton fire chief Nick Marique. Forestry crews and firefighters were able to keep the contain a brush fire to just over an acre of woods and protect the neighboring house.
The man who tried to rescue the dog was hospitalized for injuries; the dog did not survive the fire, according to Marique, who said the house suffered severe fire damage.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
