Motorcycle Crash Closes Route 101 in Exeter, NH
A Massachusetts man survived a motorcycle crash that closed a section of Route 101 in Exeter late Friday night.
New Hampshire State Police said the driver, Shawn Fleming, 24, of Weymouth, Massachusetts, was riding eastbound just before Exit 9 (Route 27) around 11:15 p.m. and went into the center median, hitting a guard rail. The impact threw Fleming, while his 2013 Harley Davidson FLHX motorcycle came to rest on the highway.
Fleming was the only person on the motorcycle. It's not yet known what caused Fleming to lose control.
Several drivers stopped to assist Fleming before first responders arrived. Although a medical helicopter was requested, he was taken via ambulance to Portsmouth Regional Hospital for treatment of serious but non-life threatening injuries.
The eastbound lanes were closed for over two hours for an investigation and cleanup of the roadway between Exit 8 (Route 27) in Brentwood and Exit 9.
State Police asked any witnesses to the crash to call 603-679-3333.
