Motorcyclist Killed in Crash on Route 95 in Massachusetts
One person was killed and another seriously injured in separate motorcycle crashes in the same hour early Wednesday evening.
Massachusetts State Police said a 53-year-old Peabody man died in a crash on the southbound side of Route 95 near Exit 81 for Central Avenue in Newbury around 6:15 p.m.. The man, whose identity was not disclosed, died at the crash scene.
Police said no other vehicle was involved in the crash, which remains under investigation.
Motorcyclist Tossed 100 Feet
A 20-year-old Auburn man was ejected from his motorcycle on the ramp from Route 101 westbound to Route 93 north around 6:35 p.m, according to New Hampshire State Police.
First responders found Tanner Smith's 2006 Yamaha R6 lying in the breakdown lane with heavy damage. Tanner Smith was thrown about 100 feet after police say he lost control and hit the guardrail. He was found lying on an embankment.
Smith was taken to Eliot Hospital for treatment of serious injuries in the crash.
Police said speed appears to have been a factor in the crash.
State Police asked witnesses to the crash to call 603-227-2175.
