State Police Staff Sgt. Jesse Sherrill will be remembered with a Celebration of Life Event on Wednesday at the Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) Arena Wednesday.

The public is invited to the event at the arena located at 555 Elm Street in Manchester starting at 11 a.m. A private burial for family only will follow for the Assistant Troop commander of the Troop A in Epping.

Gov. Chris Sununu extended his order for flags at public buildings and grounds in New Hampshire  to fly at half-staff through Wednesday in Sherrill's honor.

Remembering a Childhood Best Friend

Friend Mark Svenson said on his Facebook page he was Sherrill's best friend growing up.

"To many he was a troopers trooper. To me he was a best friends friend. Unequivocally. Without question. The answer to my lost password challenge question. As I explained to my daughters today, Jesse was everything a best friend should be," Svenson wrote.

Svenson said that growing up in Barrington they played pond hockey and wiffle ball, swam at Swain's Lake, had countless sleepovers and movie nights. They coordinated their Halloween costumes, sold sno-cones at Barrington Day and loved to play baseball.

"To say I am heartbroken today is an obvious understatement. For today, all of these memories and others came rushing back and my mom said that they will keep coming for a long time. She’s right about these things and always has been," Svenson said.
