Portsmouth Police responded to two separate DWI crashes within three hours of each other on Tuesday night, and urged drivers to consider using a ride share service after imbibing during a night out.

The driver of a white SUV struck a Jeep on Islington Street and landed on its side, according to police. A crash scene photo shows heavy damage to the rear driver's side of the Jeep, including a deflated tire. No one was in the Jeep at the time of the crash.

The driver of the SUV was arrested on a DWI charge, according to police.

"With the prevalence of ride-sharing, there are plenty of responsible alternatives to rolling your vehicle and ending up in handcuffs," police said in a statement about the crash. "Please be responsible behind the wheel, it impacts our entire community. Be well, be safe."

Police did not disclose information about the first crash.
