One Person Killed in Home Fire in North Hampton, New Hampshire
One person was killed and two police officers were sent to the hospital to be checked for smoke inhalation after a fire broke out at a North Hampton home early Wednesday morning.
The victim's identity was not immediately released.
North Hampton Fire Chief Jason Lajoie said emergency rescue crews were called at about 3:45 a.m.
"North Hampton Fire and Rescue received a report of a structure fire at 20 Woodknoll Drive and the first arriving engine company on the scene found heavy fire on the building, as well as one of the occupants was outside the building," Lajoie said.
Lajoie said they were able to quickly locate the victim inside and they were able to pull them out.
"Unfortunately, that victim did perish," Lajoie said.
Firefighters performed a second search to make sure there were no other additional victims.
Lajoie said the two police officers are expected to be fine.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known on Wednesday morning.
