Police Chase Stolen Vehicle 50 Miles in Mass, NH
A man who stole an SUV in Boston led police on a two state pursuit Wednesday night.
The pursuit of the 2014 Nissan Pathfinder began in Newton, NH around 9:30 p.m. and continued south into Amesbury, according to NH State Police. The pursuit was temporarily broken off as the Pathfinder headed north again on Route 95 into New Hampshire.
After State Police learned the SUV was stolen the pursuit resumed westbound on Route 101. The driver, later identified as Braulio Antonio Matos, 31, of Cambridge, drove erratically and at high speeds before exiting onto northbound Route 125, according to police.
Matos exited Route 125 and led police on several side roads in Epping and returned to Route 125 north near the intersection of Hedding Road. State Police deployed several stop sticks which flattened the Pathfinder's tires ending the chase.
Matos was taken into custody without incident and charged with receiving stolen property, reckless conduct, disobeying an officer, aggravated driving under the influence of liquor or drugs, driving under the influence of liquor or drugs and operating without a valid license.
Additional charges are pending approval of a warrant to search the Pathfinder.
He is being held at the Rockingham County House of Corrections and was scheduled for arraignment on Wednesday.
