Police who were at a crime scene behind Aroma Joe's in Dover on Wednesday morning caught the attention of people passing through the area because the law enforcement agency had a crime scene truck and patrol cars there.

At about 9:10 a.m., a witness messaged Seacoast Current to relay that detectives were at the scene.

That person later said they were at Aroma Joe's to get their coffee and the detectives appeared to be "taking photos and measuring and stuff."

Detective Lt. Scott Pettingill said just after noon on Wednesday that law enforcement was at 71 Broadway that morning to investigate a break-in at the business trailer behind the drive-thru coffee shop.

Pettingill said someone had pushed in the air conditioner at the trailer and stolen at least one laptop.

Pettingill asked the public to remember to secure businesses, homes and cars, especially as the weather warms up.

Pettingill said air conditioners on the first floor should be secured as well as possible so nobody can knock them out.

Pettingill reminds people to never leave anything of value out in the open in a vehicle.

Dover police routinely remind people to lock the doors of their vehicles.
