A Portsmouth Police officer is on administrative leave following an arrest on domestic assault charges in South Berwick.

South Berwick Police Chief Dana Lajoie acknowledged for Seacoast Current that Todd Goodwin was charged but could not immediately provide details about when and the specific charges.

Portsmouth Police Chief Mark Newport told WMUR that Goodwin, a member of the department for 13 years, was placed on administrative leave after his arrest Thursday night.

According to the department's Facebook page he has been a member of the department's honor guard which has presented the flag at Fenway Park and Gillette Stadium.

Newport on Sunday morning did not respond to Seacoast Current's request for more information.
