Portsmouth, NH, Woman Recovering From Accidental Gunshot
A Portsmouth woman was injured early Monday morning by the accidental discharge of a gun inside a home.
Police went to a house on Wedgewood Road around 12:25 a.m. on the report of shots fired, and found an injured 19-year-old woman, according to Portsmouth Police Lt. Keaveny. She was taken to Portsmouth Regional Hospital and was in stable condition as of Monday afternoon.
Keaveny said the owner of the firearm and witnesses are cooperating with police.The weapon is in police custody.
The identities of the woman and the individual who shot her, the circumstances of what led to the gun being fired, and where she was shot were not disclosed.
Portsmouth Police are working with the Portsmouth Housing Authority and the Division for Children, Youth and Families in the ongoing investigation. No arrests have been made.
