Dover Police responded to a report of an assault with an edged weapon in back of Planet Fitness on Central Avenue around 10:10 a.m., and found a 49-year-old woman with several cuts. She was treated and released from Wentworth-Douglass Hospital.

The suspect, Lisa K. Perry, 51, of Portsmouth, was arrested in the afternoon and charged with first degree assault. She refused bail and was transferred to Strafford County House of Corrections. She will be arraigned in Strafford County Superior Court on Monday.

An initial investigation has determined Perry and her victim knew each other, and the motive for the assault appears to be drug-related.
