A quick response help limit damage from a fire at a Plaistow townhouse building on Sunday afternoon.

The fire at the two-story townhouse on Barker Street was reported around 2 p.m. with Plaistow firefighters on scene within three minutes, according to Fire Chief Chris Knutsen. A second alarm was sounded, which brought units from Amesbury, Atkinson, Danville, Derry, East Kingston, Hampstead, Haverhill, Kingston, Merrimac, Newton, Salem, and Sandown.

The fire was brought under control within 24 minutes, according to Knutsen. No residents or firefighters were injured and several pets were rescued.

"A fast response of trained, equipped, and capable firefighters stopped this fire from being much worse," the chief said.

The cause of the fire appears to be electrical, according to Knutsen.
