A Rochester man was killed on Tuesday night after his vehicle crossed the center line and he struck a box truck.

Troopers from New Hampshire State Police were called to Route 202 in Rochester at about 11:20 p.m. An initial investigation revealed that Robert Barney, 46, was driving a 2012 Cadillac SRX eastbound when he crashed the SUV head-on into a 2013 Freightliner truck with a box trailer in tow.

The truck was traveling westbound.

Barney was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a press release.

The driver of the commercial vehicle, Philip Mclain, 56, of South Portland, Maine, was not injured, according to the press release.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Route 202 was closed for several hours so evidence could be collected and the roadway could be cleared.
