Over the past few years, I have seen the Rochester Police Department receive recognition for doing positive things in the community and it makes me proud to live/work in this area.

I remember a few years ago when they had an officer on the force named Geoff Moore and he was extremely hilarious on the department's Facebook page. He would post recounts of criminal activity with ever-so-slight witty references. Here's an example:

"There were two theft suspects that had hair that resembled Harry and Lloyd from 'Dumb and Dumber,' Harry and Lloyd parked their sheep van in downtown Rochester, and came in and stole from the Cumberland Farms on Knight Street"'

I know stealing isn't funny, but comparing the thieves to the characters from "Dumb and Dumber" makes it hard to hold back a smile.

But the boys in blue in Rochester do more than make us chuckle; they have spread some serious joy this holiday season. Members of the Rochester Police Department and Rochester Housing Authority helped hand out boxes of food to all residents of Rochester Housing on Tuesday.

This act of kindness wouldn't have been possible without the help from Gather NH and the Rochester Rotary.
